It is sufficiently known that the Twin Towers of the WTC collapsed on September 11, 2001. It is less known that the WTC consisted of seven buildings, of which three collapsed.
Slightly aside the WTC Twin Towers stood the 47 floors high seventh building, called Seven World Trade Center. It was the third-highest, however, compared to 110 floors 47 floors seem almost puny. On the morning of the 11th several small fires broke out on the lower floors. Since the building was undamaged by the hits on the two main towers, the explanation for these fires: the airplane attacks on the Twin Towers, is very unsatisfying. Telekinesis?
The End of the WTC
About 9 o'clock on 9/11 an airplane rushes into the north tower of the WTC. Because of the following confusion one does not worry about these small fires. Perhaps this is also why nobody noticed that the fire sprinklers were not released - normally they would have deleted the fires before even a notification of emergency would have been made.
Therefore, it is burning until afternoon, while the dust of the collapsed Twin Towers wraps Manhattan in an impenetrable cloud. The fire does not spread dramatically, from the outside one cannot see much at Seven World Trade Center. A multistoried building with a steel structure does not collaps quickly, even if it burns inside, does it? In the afternoon the third-highest building of the WTC complex abruptly collapses.
Finale
Also in architectural regard the collapse of the WTC wrote history.
- within 10 hours three multistoried buildings collapse
- they were considered as safeguarded against damage by airplanes and earthquakes
- the Twin Towers of the WTC are the first buildings with steel structure which collapse completely due to airplane impacts
- Seven World Trade Center is the first building with steel structure which collapses due to an unsettled fire
- therefore, the collapses are discussed as “controlled demolition”.
“No steel building has ever been destroyed by fire.” (Fire Engineering Magazine)
The two WTC main towers were worth 3.5 billion dollars. For this price they changed hands in April 2001. Larry Silverstein, the new owner, received 2.2 billion dollars from the insurance.
“A New Pearl Harbor”
The pictures of map exercises to an airplane attack on the Pentagon of November 3, 2000, of the mdw (military district Washington) are informative. (see info box left)
It says in the strategy paper on American defense policy, published by the Project for the “New American Century” in September 2000: “This process of transformation [to the American century, the author] will probably take a long time, unless a catastrophic event happens, which serves as catalyst - like a new Pearl Harbor.”
“Loose Change” - a video on the conspiracy theory of a breakup of the WTC can be seen at Google Video. And particularly concerning the collapse of WTC 7 there are explanations of a controlled demolition (more on Whatreallyhappend.com; the articles are no longer available). The main argument: For the building to collapse straight down, all of the load bearing supports would have had to fail at exactly the same time. No fire can cause this, only an expert controlled demolition of the carriers. At the moment of each collapse seismic peak values were measured on this day in N.Y. …
Extent of Destruction
As I wrote above, the World Trade Center complex consisted of seven buildings. Some say that on 9/11 three buildings collapsed. Others speak of more - I can not clarify that. But after I have done some investigation, the following seems most plausible:
- WTC 2 collapses at 10:05, WTC 1 at 10:29 - the end of the Twin Towers.
- The Twin Towers tear the buildings 3 and 4 with them. As Two World Trade Center collapses, also Three and Four World Trade Center sink in the rubble.
- When the first tower collapses, the buildings 5 and 6 are heavily damaged. Whether they were demolished later … or whether they also collapsed “by themself”, I do not know.
- Building 7, is the only building on this day without damage so far. But here small fires break out, which lead to the collapse within a few hours. An end as in the storybook …
- The orderer for the building of the WTC complex is the Tishman Construction Corporation. It has its seat in New York, in 666 Fifth Avenue.
The World Trade Center was constructed and built for 700 million dollars, in order to resist the impact of a Boeing 707.
Prehistory of the WTC Attack
It was “inconceivable” that 2 airplanes hit the twin towers of the WTC on September 11, 2001 – this was the agreed opinion after the attack. Was it really “inconceivable”? Or had something similar happened already? “I was thinking about what it meant for America to be under attack.” - so G.W. Bush on the day of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Did the attacks come out of the blue?
WTC First Scenario. 9-11/1.
The last Saturday in July 45 was a foggy day. Manhattan is wrapped in haze. In the late morning of July 28 a bomber of the Army flies into the foggy center of New York. It is a twin-engined B-25 Mitchell, it comes from the East River to Manhattan and the bomber has problems with the engines and the control.
The Empire State Building (built 1930-1931) emerges out of the fog. With its 102 floors and a height of 382 meters the skyscraper stands out of the fog – however, the unbelievably low-flying military machine flies at a height of at the most 300 meters. Thus, the pilot only discovers the facade as it is too late. The B-25 hits the Empire State Building from the north. The impact is between the 78th and 79th floor. 3000 litres aviation fuel catch fire immediately. - the WTC was built 1966 to 1973.
However, the building damage is small:
- an elevator guide, Betty Lou Oliver, plunges down 300 meters with the elevator, after the wire ropes had torn due to the impact. She survives the impact of the cab in the cellar.
- Some offices burns out.
- The damage to property amounts to one million dollars
- several days later the elevators are operating again
- there was no serious damage to the building skeleton; the repairs are distributed over almost one year.
14 people died and 25 people were injured by this accident.
WTC Second Scenario. 9-11/2.
Spring 1946, almost one year later: On May 20 an airplane of the coast guard crashes into the Trump Building in Manhattan, 40 Wall Street. This skyscraper is not one of the very large ones, “only” 283 meters high.
The damage is limited. The five airplane passengers, however, are dead. Makabre: among the deaths was Captain T. Hall, member of the committee of inquiry of the crash of the B-25 into the Empire State Building.
Amazing
Skyscapers, symbols of technical progress and economic superpower, boomed in the 20's and 30's of the century. Safety questions are asked after completion, it is a new era of architecture. Shortly after World War II two airplanes crash into skycrapers, afterwards there is nothing comparable for 55 years.
WTC Third Scenario. 9-11/3.
Immediately after the attacks a heated discussion evolved among specialists how it could be possible that the Twin Towers of the WTC collapsed. Two buildings which - as each skyscraper since the 50's – had been structurally safeguarded against airplane crashs (and earthquakes).
An explanation: only the type of airplanes that were common in the 60's had been considered. And not widebody jets as the Boeing 767. But many people doubt this explanation, too.
Blowing Up the World Trade Center?
Structural engineers and other independent experts have repeatedly confirmed that the impact of the two Boeings could not have caused such destruction. Then, what made the Twin Towers of the WTC collapse? Was the World Trade Center purposefully blown up?
Various explosive experts and structural engineers are of the opinion that only purposeful breakups at basic parts on the ground floor could have made the towers of the WTC collapse as we saw it: straight without tilting and in a few seconds. Survivors of September 11 stated that they had heard several explosions before the crash. Only fancies? Or who is at the bottom of the attack on the WTC? According to the decision of the Government we will know it in 30 years.
